PLOS Pathogens
Bacteria, fungi, parasites, prions and viruses cause a plethora of diseases that have important medical, agricultural, and economic consequences. Moreover, the study of microbes continues to provide novel insights into such fundamental processes as the molecular basis of cellular and organismal function.
PLOS Pathogens reflects the full breadth of research in these areas by publishing outstanding original articles that significantly advance the understanding of pathogens and how they interact with their host organisms. Topics include (but are not limited to) adaptive and innate immune defenses as well as pathogen countermeasures, emerging pathogens, evolution, genomics and gene regulation, model host organisms, pathogen-cell biology, pathogenesis, prions, proteomics and signal transduction, rational vaccine design, structural biology, and virulence factors.
The journal will not consider purely descriptive studies, such as those that solely identify a new genomic sequence of a related pathogen or a series of related pathogens, the isolation of pathogen variants, or a new strain or type based only on sequence analysis or correlative studies of host and pathogen genotypes.

PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases
Publishes research devoted to the pathology, epidemiology, prevention, treatment and control of the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), as well as public policy relevant to this group of diseases. A major goal is to promote and profile the efforts of researchers, health practitioners, and public-health experts from the developing world.
The NTDs are defined as a group of poverty-promoting chronic infectious diseases, which primarily occur in rural areas and poor urban areas of low-income and middle-income countries. They are poverty-promoting because of their impact on child health and development, pregnancy, and worker productivity, as well as their stigmatizing features.
All aspects of these diseases are considered, including:
- Pathogenesis
- Clinical features
- Pharmacology and treatment
- Diagnosis
- Epidemiology
- Vector biology
- Vaccinology and prevention
- Demographic, ecological and social determinants
- Public health and policy aspects (including cost-effectiveness analyses)
The journal publishes relevant in vitro and animal studies as well as human investigations.

Clinical Infectious Diseases
Publishes articles on a variety of subjects of interest to practitioners and researchers. Topics range from clinical descriptions of infections, public health, microbiology, and immunology to the prevention of infection, the evaluation of current and novel treatments, and the promotion of optimal practices for diagnosis and treatment. The Journal publishes original research, editorial commentaries, review articles, and practice guidelines and is among the most highly cited journals in the field of infectious diseases. It is an official publication of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Publishing frequency: Semi-monthly (24 issues a year)
Infectious Diseases of Poverty
An open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing topic areas and methods that address essential public health questions relating to infectious diseases of poverty. These include various aspects of the biology of pathogens and vectors, diagnosis and detection, treatment and case management, epidemiology and modeling, zoonotic hosts and animal reservoirs, control strategies and implementation, new technologies and application. Transdisciplinary or multisectoral effects on health systems, ecohealth, environmental management, and innovative technology are also considered.
Infectious Diseases of Poverty aims to identify and assess research and information gaps that hinder progress towards new interventions for a particular public health problem in the developing world. Moreover, it provides a platform for discussion of the issues raised, in order to advance research and evidence building for improved public health interventions in poor settings.

Journal of Parasitology
The official journal of the American Society of Parasitologists (ASP). The Journal is nonprofit and dues of the membership support the cost of publication. Manuscripts in English are accepted from investigators in any country regardless of whether they are members of the Society. The Journal publishes official business of the ASP and results of new original research, primarily on parasitic animals.
Publishing frequency: 6 issues a year
Journal of Infectious Diseases
Published continuously since 1904, JID is the premier global journal for original research on infectious diseases. The editors welcome Major Articles and Brief Reports describing research results on microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and related disciplines, on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases; on the microbes that cause them; and on disorders of host immune responses. JID is an official publication of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Publishing frequency: Semi-Monthly (24 issues a year)
International Journal of Infectious Diseases
Published by the International Society for Infectious Diseases, IJID is a peer-reviewed, open access journal and publishes original clinical and laboratory-based research, together with reports of clinical trials, reviews, and some case reports dealing with the epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and control of infectious diseases with particular emphasis placed on those diseases that are most common in under-resourced countries.

International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease
The reference for clinical research and epidemiological studies on tuberculosis. It is also the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to lung health worldwide, including articles on TB-HIV and non tuberculosis related respiratory diseases such as asthma, acute respiratory infection, COPD, child lung health and the hazards of tobacco and pollution.
The IJTLD's main aim is the continuing education of physicians and other health personnel, and the dissemination of the most up-to-date information in the field of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases. It publishes original articles and commissioned reviews not only on the clinical and biological aspects of pneumology, but also - and more importantly - on community aspects.
