Emerging Infectious Diseases
An open-access journal published monthly by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote the global recognition of new and reemerging infectious diseases, and to improve the understanding of factors involved in disease emergence, prevention, and elimination.
The journal relies on a broad international authorship base, and follows recommendations by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. It is published online, and also has a limited press run. The scope includes factors known to influence disease emergence; and the journal reports laboratory and epidemiologic findings. It also provides swift updates of infectious disease trends and research, and developments in antimicrobial drugs, vaccines, and prevention or elimination programs.
